On June 3, 2000, "het Huis van de Aarde" organized a special Viking Day,
to celebrate the return of the second Viking treasure to Wieringen. With
assistance from two clubs, the "Wierde Wironii" and the "Dorestad Sibbe",
an authentic Viking camp was built on the "Oosterlandse Keizerpoeldijk"
(Oosterland Kaiser Pool Dike). We created a temporary trade settlement
where Frisians and Norsemen went about their daily work. Unfortunately,
the arrival of rich traders didn't escape the eyes of Viking raiders, who
tried to plunder the encampment!
