"Farewell, but not goodbye"

"Het Huis van de Aarde" in Den Oever is administered by an organization of the same name, whose goal is to provide insight to the public, and to awaken an interest in the geological and archaeological origins of the western Wadden Sea area, and the tip of North-Holland.
So, five years ago, a permanent display was set up in Wieringen. It consists of an exstensive collection of geological and archaeological artifacts, and is located in an old village farmhouse by the harbour.

News

The old museum has been closed last autumn. Right now we are working on a new start in a new building. This project is the result of a cooperative effort between "het Huis van de Aarde", "Weg van de Vikingen" ("Way of the Vikings"), and the municipality of Wieringen.
This means that at present you cannot visit the museum. In the meantime, our virtual museum is still up and running. Check our website for updates on our move and our new building. For more information, see the News Page.

This English version of the Huis van de Aarde website has been made possible thanks to the generous help of Debbie Galama. If a link does not work, please have some patience, we are still busy getting the English site fully operational.

Happy surfing!
